This training prepares labour representatives to participate in this innovative dispute resolution process.
The CJGP offers a two-day training program for unions and employers. This training provides a deeper understanding of how the Canadian Joint Grievance process works; an in-depth explanation is given on both Schedule 1 and 2 processes, and how they vary from traditional arbitration. This program will provide instruction and guidance on how to properly investigate, prepare and present a case to the Panel, some of the same skills which are transferable to traditional arbitration. Both union and management representatives are given the opportunity to participate in a mock-trial, giving them confidence to present at future hearings. Other topics discussed are how to implement this process into an existing collective agreement, how decisions are made by the Panel, what the CJGP hearing protocol is and how to become a panelist.
A user-friendly instructional manual has been developed and is given to each participant. This manual becomes a quick reference guide to use prior to any hearing. Groups of ten to fifty people can be accommodated in a training session and the program will be tailored to meet your needs.
