Schedule 1

A Schedule 1 hearing consists of four panelists; two employer panelists and two union. These experienced labour and management representatives sit side by side and hear and render decisions based on the facts and evidence given. In both Schedules, decisions are final and binding. Outside legal counsel is not used and no case law permitted!


Schedule 2

A Schedule 2 hearing incorporates a mutually agreed upon Arbitrator with one panelist from the union and one from the company. Under a Schedule 2 format, 1 to 2 grievances can be heard in a one-day hearing. This hearing usually involves more serious issues such as: discipline/discharge, contract language interpretation or cases that are politically sensitive.
